I'm wondering if anyone remembers this. I have the Decade of Metal countdown with ricki Rachtman and Motley Crue, but I also remember another decade metal countdown with Adam Curry hosting. I'm thinking it was sometime in 89' but I'm not sure. Does anyone remember this or am I crazy?

I rememeber watching it in 89 it was in December a week or two before Riki took over. Many of the videos were different then the 4 hour version they Riki,Vince and Tommy did in May. I've been looking for this for years with no luck though.
Also been looking for the 3 Poision HBBs complete from 90 and a complete version of the Cathouse skydiving show from 91 and the clash of the titans show from 91.

Yeah it seems like I remember some kind of Decade of Metal show w/Adam Curry hosting too before he left but I'm not 100% sure. Since this site has been active I haven't got any information on this show yet but if I do, I'll let you all know. Also another question...was there a best of 1989 show? And if so, did it air in late 89 or early 90? Hopefully, with this site we'll answer all of these questions in time.

I used to have part of this show on VHS until it got destroyed. This was from December of 1989. It was one of the last shows Adam Curry did as host of the ball. It was a best metal videos of the 80's show. I remember the show went year by year. I can remember AC/DC "Back in Black" as one of the best Metal videos of 1980.

Oh yeah, I remember you telling me about that show wyldcat. Too bad you don't still have that one. That would be awesome! I guess what I meant to say is that I haven't got any information that would confirm a date for that show.

Another thing I just remembered. Thinking back, I remember watching the Moscow Music Peace Festival on MTV in late 1989. I believe it was in the winter. I think it only showed 2 or 3 songs from each band. And it seems like it was on late at night possibly when HBB should have been on. What I'm wondering is, was this an HBB show? Was it aired in place of HBB or was it aired on MTV one night and an HBB show still followed it later that night? Hmmm???... Anyway, I'm just wondering if anybody else remembers this or is it just me? LOL! I think I have a VHS tape of it but I haven't watched it in a long time. I'm gonna have to dig this out and investigate!

Well, there was a Moscow Music Peace Festival edition of the Headbangers Ball, but it aired on 8/12/89 and it only had 1 video from each band (plus interviews and the regular HBB stuff) so it sounds as if that was not part of the Ball but a regular broadcast special similar to what MTV did for the Monsters of Rock festivals.

Keir, yeah I have the Moscow Music Peace Festival edition of HBB so I know what you're talking about. But you could be right, that it was just a regular broadcast of the Moscow Music Peace Festival on MTV. All that I do remember, is that it was in late 1989 (probably in December), and I'm pretty sure this was on the weekend. I think it was on a Friday or Saturday night but I'm not sure how late at night it was on. It could have aired earlier at night say 8 or 9 p.m. and then still had a HBB show later that night at midnight if it was on a Saturday night. Anyway, I plan to get my tape out over the next couple of days and see if I can figure out anything from watching it. I'll post here and let you all know what I find out.

Well, I got to watch some of the Moscow Music Peace Festival tape that I have a few days ago and as far as I can tell, it was broadcast on MTV. There seems to be commercial breaks in it, if it was the pay per view of the concert, I don't think there would be any commercials. I didn't watch all of it yet but it looks like the commercials were edited out. The tape would cut out just as commercials were coming on and it would come back on when it returned to the concert. So, trying figure out a date on this might not be as easy as I thought. And, it seems like it is only showing about 2 songs from each band rather than 3 songs like I thought. Oh well, I'll watch the rest of it when I get a chance though and see if I can pick up any clues.

The Headbangers Ball program "Best of the 80'S was shown in Dec of 1989 between Christmas and New Years. I happened to turn on the Ball that night and it was already in progress. I started recording the program when it was showing videos from 1983. I have a partial recording of the show from the best videos from 1983 to 1989. The first video I have is "Rock of Ages" and continues for another 27 amazing videos-Motley Crew with "Look that Kills", Ratt, "Round and Round", Twisted Sister, "Were not gonna take it", Ozzy Osboure, "A shot in the dark", The Cult, "Love removal lMachine", Whitesnake, "Still of the Night", and many, many more. My partial copy last more than 2 hours and I don't have the beginning with years 1980, 1981, and 1982. Unfortunately I was too late when I discovered this special was airing. My copy has been misplaced for more than 7 years and just rediscovered. Me and my friends would play it on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and have a big Metalfest. I would be very interested in finding a copy of the complete show.
