Since I am snowed in here in Pennsylvania I dug out all my headbangers Ball dvds and found that some of the dates everyone has listed seem to be wrong. For example, most everyone has the show that is listed as 8/18/88. That date was actually a thursday. Also, it has some ads for movies on there that don't open until after 8/19/88. Also, there is another HBB that is preceded by a Nightmare on Elm Street 4 special. It looks as if this show was 8/20/88. I am guessing this because the movie opened on 8/19/88. Also, because near the end of this show Adam mentions that next week will be the Megaforce Anniversary show which is 8/27/88. Anyway, I am still checking other dates to see if anything else is wrong. I know the dates don't make much difference, but I was bored.

I noticed that about the 8/18/88 show too. There are aso ads for the Judas Priest contest which ended 9/5/88 and the upcoming VMAs which were on 9/7/88. That would imply that it was aired 9/3/88, but that's the date I have for the Axl and Slash show.

I verified the GnR show date is correct. There is a commercial for a movie, moon over parador that premeired 9/9/88. The voiceover says starts friday at a theater near you. So, I have no idea when that 8/18 show is from.

I know the dates don't make much difference, but I was bored. Yeah, you will probably see some other dates that are possibly still wrong on the site. I try to catch what I can as far as dates that I know can't be right. But some will slip by me sometimes. So, don't be afraid to bring it to my attention. I'm all for getting the list as accurate as possible. There have been dates I've seen that I knew couldn't be right because it falls on the wrong day but I just went with the date I was given until I could check it out closer for myself to see what date I estimate it to be. If my memory is correct I think the show Vice is talking about is 8/20/88. Because it seems like I also caught that show as having the wrong date. And watching it, Adam says the Monsters Of Rock Festival @ Castle Donnington was going on right now in the UK. Looking up the date for Monsters Of Rock @ Castle Donnington I believe was 8/20/88. So, thats good enough for me, I consider that show date confirmed and I put it on the main list as soon as I got the chance. I'm not sure about the show w/ The Nightmare On Elm Street thing at the beginning. I do have that show but I haven't got to watch it all the way through yet for any clues on the date myself. But anyway, nice going Vice1984 I'm glad you're trying to help out with getting dates correct that's part of what this site is about. That's the kind of thing I like to see. I hope you get snowed in more often. LOL! Just kidding. But it's good to know that others are using the site and checking dates, etc. Believe or not we even got snow here where I live on Friday. And that doesn't happen very often. It's crazy. But if you or any others here find any other shows where the date is wrong, bring it on. Let me know. We'll narrow them down the best we can. And one by one we'll get the dates right with the process of elimination and with everybodys help it makes it easier.

Yeah, that's right. Also, the Megforce one is definitely from 8/27, and at the end Adam says next week is GNR. I don't have the Nightmare episode (should be getting it this week coincidentally) but could it be from 8/13 and they just made a mistake about when the Megaforce episode was happening? That would mean that the Rob Halford date was wrong too.

OK, I hate to tell you this but the one with the Nightmare On Elm Street 4 segment at the beginning is just a different recording of the 8/20 episode. No mystery.

07/23/88 Vinnie Vincent Invasion host 07/30/88 Adam Curry hosts
07/08/89 Adam Curry hosts

Yeah I knew the show w/Vinnie Vincent Invasion hosting was probably from July 88 but I haven't narrowed it down to an exact date yet. Thanks Keir I will add these shows to the list on the next update!

I have some clips with Craig Wells and Kirk Arrington (Metal Church) hosting. Though the clips are brief, they give the 3rd clue in the Autograph autographed guitar contest, which would make this the 5/16/87 episode.

Was watching a collection of King Diamond TV clips, and there were some from an episode of Headbangers Ball which I had not seen before (i.e. not the 8/15/87 episode that is circulating). He talked about his tour starting in one week on August 12, so that would make the date of this one 8/6/88 (right in between Adam Curry and Rob Halford).

Keir thanks for the information on the 1988 King Diamond show! I will add it on the next update that I do, which might be after I move the site. It looks like fortunecity.com is ending their free service on April 30th, so it looks we will probably be moving soon. I'm gonna try to figure out something to keep the site going. The message board should stay as is. So, bookmark the message board and I'll post the new address as soon as I figure out where we will move the site.

OK, thanks for the tip! Here's another one. Tim Gaines and Robert Sweet (Stryper) hosted the Ball on 5/9/87 (they gave the 2nd clue in the Autograph contest). You can watch the clips here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YoMZm4kxeM

Cool, I knew they were on the show in 1987 but probably wasn't sure of an exact date yet. I also had the clips of them hosting on a Stryper compilation DVD but not the full show. I haven't got around to doing any of the updates yet but hopefully I will get to it soon. But keep em coming if you figure out any more and I'll get them posted when I can.
